Dancing is like Dreaming with your Feet! ~Constanze
"I am a dancer. I believe that we learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living.... In each, it is the performance of a dedicated precise set of acts, physical or intellectual, from which comes shape of achievement, a sense of one's being, a satisfaction of spirit. ~Martha Graham, c.1953
At Studio9 dance is incorporated in most of our live performances in music and in theatre. In the spirit of coming together across the curriculum, dance can be used in so many ways. How about a student choreographing their short documentary on depression in Digital Arts, or dancing to interpret their poem or story in English or Creative Writing. How about dance to bring new meaning to musical theatre or to tell a story on a musical review on social change.
With teacher Lynn Deschner, students learn to love dance and to express themselves no matter their level of expertise. and that is just a beautiful thing to watch. We see personal growth, athletic growth and artistic growth in our dance program. It has even improved performance in elementary school Math. The power of dance is great.
Join us in a safe and nurturing environment where trying is what's important. With effort and practice you will learn new things about dance and yourself.
